Biography

As the associate news director at U-M, Bernie oversees coverage of faculty research and campus events; edits news stories, social media posts and web communications; and contributes to the operation of the Michigan News broadcast studio. Over the years, he has handled media relations for many schools, colleges, departments and institutes at U-M. He has a master’s degree in journalism and a bachelor’s in political science and communication from U-M, and worked in media, advertising and public relations before joining the university in 1990.
