Student engineering projects on display at Design Expo
DATE: 1-5 p.m., April 10, 2008.
EVENT: About 85 teams of undergraduate engineering students will showcase their capstone design projects at the College of Engineering Design Expo. Projects from seven different engineering departments will be displayed. They include plans for a new biodegradable plastic, a real-time guitar tablature trainer, pedestrian-friendly cars and bed-sore reducing hospital beds, among dozens of other innovative ideas.
Projects from these departments will be displayed: atmospheric, oceanic and space sciences, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, civil and environmental engineering, electrical engineering and computer science, industrial and operations engineering, and mechanical engineering.
Companies and community sponsors involved include: Acellent Inc., Eaton Corp., the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, ePrize, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, Harris Corp., Innovative BioTherapies, Intraduce Transit LLC, John Deere, Lear Automotive, Michigan Aerospace Corp., NASA/Jet Propulsion Lab, Otis Elevator, Rochester Biomedical, The City of Ann Arbor, Tenant Co., University Preparatory Math and Science, UPS and Whirlpool Corp.
