Students complete Army ROTC training camp in Washington state

ANN ARBOR—Nine cadets from the University of Michigan recently graduated from the 1999 Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Advanced Camp in Fort Lewis, Wash.

The 35-day camp is designed to develop leadership, teamwork, and military skills and knowledge, and includes training in water safety, land navigation, fire support, weapon use, and tactical and physical training.

“The event is the single-most important training event in preparation for future commissioning as an Army officer,” says retired Army Maj. H. Ali Mohammed, assistant chair of the U-M Army Officer Education Program.
