Top authors read their works at Visiting Writers Series
ANN ARBOR—Writers Jim Daniels and Jack Driscoll will share their work during free readings as part of the University of Michigan’s Visiting Writers Series this month.
Daniels, professor of English and the director of Carnegie Mellon University’s Creative Writing Program, will present his poetry Thursday (Sept. 13) at 5 p.m. in Hale Auditorium of the School of Business Administration. He has authored six books of poetry, including “Blessing the House” (1997) and “Blue Jesus” (2000). Daniels’ awards include a National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellowship and two fellowships from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. His work has also appeared in Best American Poetry 2000.

Driscoll will read at 5 p.m. on Sept. 20, also at Hale Auditorium. Currently the Writer-in-Residence at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Northern Michigan, he is the author of four books of poems, a collection of short stories, and three novels. His work appears on National Public Radio, in the Chicago Tribune, and the Kansas City Star, as well as in a number of literary journals and reviews. His recent novel, “Lucky Man, Lucky Woman,” received several awards including the 1999 Independent Book Publishers Award for Fiction.
