DATE: 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008.

EVENT: The University of Michigan spring commencement ceremony will be held on the Diag on Central Campus because of construction at Michigan Stadium. ABC News anchor and special correspondent Robert Woodruff, a U-M alumnus, will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree and will deliver the commencement address.

Media planning to attend should contact Laura Lessnau by noon Thursday, April 24.

MEDIA AVAILABILITY: A brief media availability with Bob Woodruff will be held at 9:30 a.m. in the Hatcher Graduate Library. Enter through the media-designated side door (west side).

PARKING: Media may park in the designated spots in lot W18, next to the parking structure between Thompson and Division streets. See attached map, also posted at: http://www.umich.edu/news/Releases/2008/Apr08/COMMENCE2008.jpg

Vehicle parking permits will be distributed at the parking lot beginning at 8:30 a.m. Bring media identification.

TELEVISION CREWS: This is the only designated area for media; be prepared to park and walk with your equipment. Because of the heavy pedestrian traffic, trucks are prohibited from parking on streets and sidewalk near the Diag and will be towed.

ALL MEDIA: Anticipated heavy traffic in downtown Ann Arbor may slow your travel time.

MEDIA CREDENTIALS: Credentials will be available at check-in at the media table at the side door (west side) of the Hatcher Graduate Library on the Diag.

BROADCAST SET-UP: The News Service will provide an audio/video feed of the head-on camera (main speaker camera) in the Gallery (room 100) of Hatcher Graduate Library for television stations that bring videotape recorders. A BNC video cable and an XLR audio cable will be needed to record the feed. Media may enter Hatcher through the media-designated side door (west side). Please connect to the audio/video distributor by 9:15 a.m.

The ceremony will be telecast via satellite on AMC-16, Ku digital transponder 14, 85 degrees west:
