U-M conference: Safer, more productive and efficient heavy trucks

EVENT: “Building the Policy Options Roadmap,” an international conference on efficient, safe and sustainable truck transportation systems for the future, is hosted by the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI).

Technical experts and public policy officials from around the world will lay out practical and workable options for ensuring economically viable and socially responsive U.S. commercial truck transportation.

“With major surface transportation legislative reauthorization in the offing?legislation that will likely stake out entirely new policy directions for all highway users?it is critically important to identify ways to balance economic, safety, environmental and energy-use goals in the freight transportation arena,” said conference chair John Woodrooffe, director of UMTRI’s Transportation Safety Analysis Division.
