U-M experts available for Black Friday, holiday retail stories

ANN ARBOR—Black Friday is expected to draw nearly 100 million shoppers this year, according to National Retail Federation data. What will they buy? How will they shop—at stores or online? University of Michigan faculty are available for interviews.

David Wooten, associate professor of marketing at the Ross School of Business, has done extensive research on Black Friday shoppers. His research explores the competitive aspects and game-like characteristics of Black Friday shopping, what motivates shoppers and what it means for retailers. Scott Rick is an assistant professor of marketing at the Ross School of Business. His research focuses on understanding the emotional causes and consequences of consumer financial decision-making.
