EVENT: As part of a nationwide campus tour headed by the Department of Justice to recognize 12 colleges and universities selected for their exemplary efforts in sexual assault awareness and prevention, the University of Michigan will host Assistant Attorney General Ignacia Moreno along with Susan Williams, associate director of the Office on Violence Against Women, at two public events coordinated by the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC).
The university will host a public presentation between executive leadership and community partners that will highlight the key accomplishments, strategies and collaborative projects related to sexual and intimate partner violence on campus. This presentation will serve as a platform for remarks on the programs by Moreno.
The evening event will include “Revolution: Making Art for Change,” the fifth annual art exhibit organized by SAPAC’s Networking, Publicity and Activism student volunteers. The event will showcase artwork pertaining to sexual violence, gender, sexism and empowerment from local and national artists, in addition to food, music and poetry.
Moreno will provide remarks followed by SAPAC student volunteers and Emily Kripitz, a U-M alumnus, former SAPAC volunteer and founder of the exhibit.
There will be ample time for general discussion and questions.
