ANN ARBOR—Seventy local arts and cultural organizations, including units from the University of Michigan, will benefit from an Aug. 18 matching-gift effort led by the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan.

The foundation is teaming up with donors to support regional cultural institutions by providing a 50 percent match to donations of $25 or more made to eligible organizations on the foundation’s Web site. The University’s Museum of Art, Exhibit Museum of Natural History, Henry Ford Estate in Dearborn, and the University Musical Society are participating.

The match will last until $1 million is spent by the foundation. Each organization has a maximum cap of $400,000 in donor gifts to be matched by $200,000. The foundation designed this grant-making program with the hope of stimulating support for arts and culture nonprofits in Southeast Michigan. The foundation partnered with the Cultural Alliance of Southeastern Michigan to launch the challenge, and benefit the constituent members of the alliance.

Units are listed under U-M; the University Musical Society is listed separately.
