EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT

DATE: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 13, and 8 a.m.-noon Feb. 14, 2025.

EVENT: Stakeholders from across Michigan will gather to discuss the increasing resilience issues facing water and sewer utilities as communities deal with impacts of climate change. For instance, utilities are responding to increased flooding and power interruptions caused by severe weather events. Participants will share information, research and best practices, all with an eye toward regional cooperation that improves Southeast Michigan’s resilience.

Speakers include:

• Jim Bagian, former NASA astronaut and executive director of the Center for Risk Analysis Informed Decision Engineering.
• Suzanne Coffey, chief executive officer at Great Lakes Water Authority
• Satvir Deol, director of distribution operations central engineering at DTE
• Brenda Houtz, vice president of operations at ITC
• Gregg Salsbury, vice president of electric distribution engineering at Consumers Energy
• Seth Guikema, director of research and education at the Center for Risk Analysis Informed Decision Engineering
