ANN ARBOR—The University of Michigan’s Department of Public Safety and Security is investigating today’s sudden death of a University employee.
Kurt Zimmer, 41, of Pittsfield Township, was found dead this morning of a gunshot wound in an Information Technology Division office by a contract security guard, said William Bess, director of U-M’s DPSS. While the investigation is still pending, indications are that the wound was self-inflicted, Bess added.
Zimmer, a U-M graduate, was an accountant and had worked at the University since December 1998. He leaves a wife and two children.
