He is the editor of Jerusalem Quarterly File, dedicated to providing scholarly articles on Jerusalem’s history and on the dynamics and trends currently shaping the city.

Piotr Michalowski, the George C. Cameron Professor of Ancient Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, is the guest speaker. The delicate ecology and fragile archaeological remains are now under siege from both sides in the conflict, and this plundering could very well continue after hostilities are over. The current Iraqi regime has appropriated the antiquity of the land for its own uses and we cannot predict the effect of a backlash against these gestures once the bombs stop falling. The politics of antiquity thus acquire a particular meaning as the war drags on, the heavy armor rolls on, trenches are dug, and the ruins are turned into dust. “AGORA on Operation Iraqi Freedom”
