ANN ARBOR—Margaret Dewar, University of Michigan associate professor of urban and regional planning, will receive the 1997 Michigan Campus Compact Faculty Award at a ceremony Nov. 14 in East Lansing.

The award recognizes one faculty member on each of the Compact’s member campuses for engaging or influencing students to be involved in community service or service-learning.

Dewar was selected for the award for involving her urban planning students in Detroit neighborhoods, her involvement with the Michigan Neighborhood AmeriCorps Program, her role as the co-director of the Community Outreach Partnership Center, and her help in developing the Center for Learning through Community Service at the University.

The award will be presented during a recognition ceremony at the annual Michigan Campus Compact Faculty Service-Learning Institute at Michigan State University’s Kellogg Center.
