Veteran journalist to discuss media coverage of Iraq, Afghanistan

EVENT: Mark McDonald, the Howard R. Marsh Visiting Professor of Journalism in the University of Michigan Department of Communication Studies, will give a lecture: “Embedded: The Media at War—Covering Iraq and Afghanistan.”
McDonald, a veteran newspaper correspondent who has done several tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, offers his insights about embedding, as reporters attach themselves to military units in the field, and the media’s current coverage of the wars in both countries.
Both the lecture and reception, which begins at 5 p.m., are free and open to the public.
