Women of Color Task Force conference: success in a global economy
DATE: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Feb. 29, 2008.
EVENT: The 26th Annual Women of Color Task Force Career Conference, “Work, Lead & Succeed in a Global Economy,” will focus on preparing and positioning conference attendees to think about their contributions to the state’s economy from a national and global perspective. They will attend professional, financial and personal development workshops and a networking luncheon.
The keynote speaker is Kenya Ayers, who served as vice provost and associate vice president for academic affairs at Kettering University from 2002 to 2008. She is currently executive director of Esperanza Communications and founder of The Choice Network, a consulting firm designed to empower women toward completion of doctoral degree programs.
Ayers received an undergraduate degree in psychology from U-M and completed a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Eastern Michigan University. She earned a Doctorate of Education from the University of Houston in educational administration and supervision in higher education.
A box lunch will be served at the event. Early registration is $50 for U-M retirees, students and research fellows; $60 for U-M staff, faculty and alumni/ae and $70 for all non-U-M attendees. Early and on-line registration ends Feb. 18, 2008. On-site registration on the day of the conference is available for a slightly higher cost.
