Women of Color Task Force hosts 28th annual career conference
DATE: 7 a.m.-4:30 p.m. March 5; early registration open until Feb. 19, 2010.
EVENT: The Women of Color Task Force will host its 28th annual career conference. The title is “Excel in Uncertain Times: Identify Resources & Maximize Opportunities.”
The keynote speaker is Gail Perry-Mason, who is senior director of investments for Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. Perry-Mason is well known in the securities industry for mentoring young women professionals, and for focusing her efforts on socially responsible investing. She founded and directed the original Money Camp for Teens and the first Youth Investment Club that is incorporated in the United States.
She also conducts a program in the Detroit Public Schools that includes teaching financial literacy and starting a business that exposes youth to finance. She will speak during the 8:30 a.m. session in Rackham Auditorium.
The conference, which is open to the public, offers more than 40 professional, financial and personal development workshops, a networking luncheon and an exhibit area featuring vendors. The event is one of the largest staff conferences on the University of Michigan campus.

FEE: The cost for current U-M staff, faculty, students and alumni is $60 for the conference and $80 to attend both the conference and luncheon. The cost for non-U-M employees is $70 (conference only) and $90 conference with the luncheon. After Feb. 19, attendees can register for the conference onsite the day of the conference; however, registration for the luncheon is closed after Feb. 19.
On-site registration the day of the conference will include an additional $15 administrative charge.
